"I was stationed at Ft. Rich all of 1964 with USARAL 12th Av, as crewchief on a twin Beech U-8F, a new alclad ship, ( commanding Generals ship used for training on twin engine, or for going FISHING.) Easy duty, great pals among the Otter mechanics/crewchiefs, some of whom had pilots licenses and we flew about Knik glacier and down past Homer and Tustamena sightseeing, or hiking into "the Chugach". Or we'd gang over to The Anchorage Westward top floor for view and partying on paydays. Even some of the officers were pretty cool and funny guys when I gave them twin run-up instruction. I'd like to visit the area again, I can even see the trail that I took between the barracks and Bryant Field on satellite views!" (Submitted Feb. 6, 2010)
